health care
Medicare For All is a poor compromise.
The real solution is nationalized health care.
We have a highly gamed health care system that is designed to enrich the wealthy stock owners rather than provide basic medical care to everyone.
The pandemic has revealed the hypocrisy and absurdity of the system.
The Justinian Plague of 541-542 C.E. killed between 25 and 100 million people, including about half of Europes population. Yersinia pestis, the same bacterium responsible for the Black Death, spread across Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
The Plague of Justinian struck Emperor Justinian II himself, killed his son, and was one of the major causes of the fall of the Roman Empire.
The Black Death of 1347 to 1351 C.E. killed 75 to 200 million people, including around one third to one half of the European population, and most of the members of the European royal families.
More recently the 1918 flu pandemic from January 1918 to December 1920 infected 500 million people or half the worlds population and killed between 17 and 100 million. It was the major cause of the end of World War I, because the war powers couldnt keep the trenches properly manned.
World War I was for the benefit of the rich. As just one example, while literally millions of British and German youth were dying in trench warfare, the British and German governments were trading German optical glass for British rubber, both essential war supplies, so that the powerful families could continue their for profit war.
The 1918 flu pandemic was made far worse because major governments, including the US, Germany, UK, and France, tried to cover up the disease and avoided taking substantial action out of fear of harming the interets of the rich.
We see that exact same pattern today with US President Donald Trump being particularly stupid and self-serving, while members of his own inner circle are among the known victims of COVID-19.
Drastic action is the only possible solution.
We need to immediately nationalize the entire health care industry, like Italy already has, and look out for the interests of the people rather than the money of the rich.
